have you ever tried cupcake vineyard wine?

i'm not a huge wine drinker.  now don't get me wrong, i love me some $4 sangria from the grocery store.  but i'm not a big red/white wine drinker.  but a good friend got me some cupcake vineyard for my birthday, and i love it!  it's super affordable and plus, it's called cupcake wine, woot!

Sunday would have been my mom's 53rd birthday.  My cousin Kate and I thought we should do something, here in Austin, as sort of a tribute or something that she would have enjoyed doing.  My mom lived in Austin for a while in the 70's, and used to hike Mount Bonnell frequently.  So Kate, her boyfriend David, Travis and I, and several of our friends (including my roommate Mairin, my other roommate Taylor, Brett, Maira and Mitchell) went hiking there Sunday.  And then went and stuffed our faces at the County Line.

It was a great day and a very nice way to remember mom.

okay friends, i understand now

i get it now.

today was a good day.

today was a good day.  i started the weekend pretty bummed out, because dumb me waited to the last minute to try to get tickets for the Quiet Company show in Houston this weekend.  the band was playing with The Toadies, so i should have known that they would sell out.

i decided to make the best of the weekend, and come stay in Austin with travis.  today involved Torchy's
for lunch, Sugar Mama's Bakeshop with our good friend maira, a celebration dinner with travis for his new job (did i mention travis got a new job? thank goodness.) and some BerryAustin for dessert.  BerryAustin is my new favorite place. oh, and it's right by travis' apartment...it's a sign i tell you.

of course i didn't take any pictures.  in the moment i always think to myself "oh, this would make such a cute picture" and then i get distracted by whatever, in today's case it was cupcakes and/or frozen yogurt.

Leila is a bad pup

My dad called me tonight to tell me that Leila (LAUREN'S dog) ate my chair. The chair I've been waiting to move for months, once I had more space. Dad rationalized it by saying that the chair's insides were just like the insides of Leila's toys, so it isn't her fault because she thought it was just a giant toy. Right, dad. RIP perfect reading chair.

i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! i'm off to austin to spend some time with travis and the ween. oh and to probably enjoy a taco and a cupcake somewhere along the way.

oh, and it turns out i had my new camera on the wrong setting during our vacation, and all the photos are extremely large.  now, i'm too lazy to resize them in order to post them on here, but go take a look over at my flickr!

carbery first birthdays

this weekend was a lot of firsts, mostly things involving cake and messy babies.  the carbery's (travis' family) celebrated two first birthdays:  aiden's and jillian's!  jillian, monica and matt's daughter, was born on july first, and aiden, brianne and mike's son, on july sixth.
